I would love to see fan-art of this game crossing over with a series like Murder Drones. I'd think it would be pretty cool to see murderous robots, go up against meat-infected monsters, a literal harbinger of the apocalypse, and a huge metal skeleton.
seeing Yuri laser a murder drone in two with his heat vision or Carniranch going on a killing rampage through the "Corpse House" would be the best thing.
Just thought I'd let you know that this seems to run fine in wine on Linux, except the intro which is a bit stuttery. I did play through the entire demo however without issue. I had fun - I'll certainly consider purchasing. Congratulations on the launch.
One thing I wanted to point out - I noticed you've used a bitly link for the QR code. Your URL isn't that long so you could just use it for the QR code and then you wouldn't be dependent on a 3rd party (much better IMHO).
Lastly, your Steam link above is broken (appears to to go a t DOT co domain).
1. Add a monster encyclopedia. Players don’t have time to appreciate this alien monster made of flesh and steel in the game... The final BOSS still looks a bit cute.
2. Although the M weapon in the game has double bullets after upgrading, it will be stuck on a certain terrain due to the double row problem. The split bullets of the cluster bomb are more powerful than the main body.
3. Unable to lie down and turn around, it will become an oblique shooting. If I accidentally touch the lock, I will stand up...
4. I didn’t see the additional corpse explosion insects and perfect version tanks. Maybe you are going to release these in DLC? There is also a truck spider in the loading screen?
5. In fact, I still don’t know whether Iron Meat are artificially made on the moon or captured from outer space...
6. If possible, add the setting of LEVEL3 weapons, which may be purple/red light, which will affect the speed pass. For experts, it will be very interesting to save a L3 weapon to speed through the hardest difficulty.
7. BOSS RUSH, maybe we really need it.
8. No F... I want a close range powerful weapon, the flamethrower does use one in the cutscene!
9. Maybe add a friendly monster as a mascot, some kind of outlier variant, like the car that goes by in the opening...
1) It's actually partially finished (~10%), but work has been put on hold due to the release. In general, there are quite detailed descriptions, so the work was slow
2) Oh, gun balance is a very tricky thing... I'm aware of the M gun issues, but I thought I was rid of that problem..... Could you name specific places where this is happening? I would be very grateful!
3) Hmm, I'm still plagued by this question. Personally, I don't think it's a classic mechanic, but I do think it's worth listening to feedback. There's a higher than average chance that I'll change it
4) Truck spider is level 4 boss. A non-infected version of the tank existed in an early version of the game. But the model can really be used for further development of the game (if it will be of course, but I really hope so)
5) The Retroware channel (the publisher of the game) will reveal some details after some time
6) Early versions of the game had 3 weapon levels. To be honest, I reduced it to 2 because I was afraid of imbalance. But I'll think hard about it, it's a really good idea for DLC or something like that
7) Yeah, the game really needs it. If the game will have updates in terms of gameplay (depends on the publisher), this is the very first candidate
8) Again, I was afraid of an imbalance. It is possible in the future, but these weapons need to be balanced VERY well
9) Yes, I've already thought of such a monster. But it's for the DLC\sequel\prequel
Regarding the issue of L3 weapons: I think it can be used as a difficulty limit, and players can increase the room for choice in the game, such as weapon upgrade restrictions, corpse bullets, etc., which can allow players to gain more experience and points, but increase the difficulty accordingly. As entertainment players, you can choose to give stronger firepower to make up for their habit of killing quickly, and even not discard weapons when they die. However, this will affect the acquisition of scores, experience, skins and trophies.
As for the flamethrower, it has high power and low distance, and has extremely high damage benefits but needs to be close to the enemy, which leads to a surge in danger. Because there are no close-range AOE weapons in this game, the additional increase is also a compensation.
In addition, I feel that the weapon assignment should be adjusted. In many levels, there are many guns with the same name, and it is easy to accumulate L2 guns. The M machine gun is scarce in the second level and other places. There are more E GUN in the early stage, and relatively fewer B GUN, and the opposite is true in the later stage. But I personally feel that it is important to let players deliberately save a gun to upgrade through the level.
The problem of L2M machine gun has little impact, because have a second gun... If you encounter this problem, you are encouraged to switch weapons.
If there is a DLC, I hope to see such a level...
The protagonist entered the city and found that the ground was full of monsters. The only passage to go was the subway station, so the protagonist passed an amusement park, defeated a large number of electronic animations assimilated by iron meat, and there were also bumper cars rushing madly and even a mini BOSS. After passing the roller coaster track, he jumped out of the amusement park and came to the subway station entrance. Several soldiers helped guard the entrance. The player went along the subway and saw many landslides and derailed trains. He encountered a small BOSS: the infected subway train.
After defeating the train, the player came out of the subway and found that the surrounding area of the research building was full of fangs and iron meat carpets. At this time, a complete tank drove over, and the player jumped on the tank to defend against the enemy's attack. After reaching the edge of the cliff, the protagonist jumped over several stone pillars and came to the construction site next to the institute, encountering the BOSS of this level: the infected excavator.
The first time i saw the meat soldier outfit in the demo, i immediately came up with an awesome origin story for him It sounds weird but i think it's creative.
So his real name would be Bruce Markov (Cousin of Yuri Markov) who would help Yuri with the experiment on the MEAT. once the meat showed signs of life and begin to break out of the tube, Bruce would tell Yuri to stop the experiment, but Yuri wouldn't listen. The front computer then would explode, and Yuri would leap in front of Bruce to protect him, but Bruce still had his flesh vaporized, but his brain survived. The meat would then cover Bruce eventually and soon become his flesh, But because his brain and neural system was still intact, his brain was now in control of the meat.
Now Bruce is working for the US government to stop the infection (and his Apocalypse bringing cousin)
Hey, that's actually a good story! But I'm afraid there are some critical discrepancies with the plot.... But you don't have to take the whole idea, do you? ;)
I've seen some youtuber's play the full version of the game on Youtube, do you only give the full release to people who are youtubers and want to make a video on it?
I have seen a video of this game and had to check it out. The art is amazing! I am planning on buying it, but I was wondering if there will also be a release of the concept art of this game as a book/downloadable dlc. I would immediately pick this up, since I am an artist that is interested in everything macabre!
I hope to hear from you and all the best for your release! ^^
I actually have a few weapon ideas that you'd might like
Flamethrower: A good weapon with high damage but very short range, the enemies could also have unique death animations for being burnt alive, instead of just exploding.
Homing RPG: Its basically the grenade launcher but with homing projectiles at the cost of a smaller explosion radius
Burst Rifle: High damage and high projectile speed, at the cost of the shots firing in bursts rather than automatic
In general, now the game is in the final stages of production - that is essentially finished, there is a licensing process for various stores. So there is no possibility to make any changes until the release. After the release it is possible
Flamethrower and homing missile are possible, but the analog of Burst Rifle is kind of already present in the game? (L)
I have a strong feeling that I'm really missing the ability to perform a slide dash. Contra Hard Corps had it, and it saved the day many times.
Many time through the demo I understand that I am dead in a second and it is impossible to do anything. Like with the train boss when you have to lay down, to not let its chin to hit you. But then it starts to vomit. You lay down and can't move because his chin is above you. When his chin will pass you will be dead because of vomit stream from his mouth. So in such cases I destined to die.
Yes, I'm aware that such things can arise. The problem is that such mechanics should be planned at the very beginning of the game to make enemies and obstacles with such mechanics in mind. Considering that the release of this game is already this year, there is no way to introduce this, because I would need to rebalance every level. The possibility of introducing this mechanic will be considered in the sequel\prequel. But I'm not making any promises on that matter
It's nice to see the story of this game slowly getting put together.
another weird thing about the story is that the "antagonist" somehow becomes literal Homelander, either by the flesh infection, or the explosion. (an also grows a mouth from his torso), and proceeds to activate a portal and let it spread onto earth. ( He also proceeds to kill 4 guys with his laser eyes )
Also, when is the soundtrack for this game going to be out?
I haven't actually watched this series. It's just that I don't like Superman, so you can beat him in the game, haha
It's very difficult with the soundtrack, I can't give any information, because the rights to it belong to the author of the music, I just don't know when it will be released. This is generally a difficult question, I do not even know who to ask it to, because the author (Darkman) also does not really understand when this will happen
Especially the "parasitic vehicle" BOSS makes people feel the horror of the combination of machines invented by humans and alien monsters.
I didn’t quite understand the opening animation. Where did the monster prototype come from? What happened to the jar and the portal... Infected the doctor and created a bunch of aliens and a huge skeletal arm?
Well, in fact, I didn’t understand the Japanese plot of “Contra” in those years. All I had to do was shoot the aliens to death with a gun.
When I passed by the "soldier corpses" in the scene, I was even afraid that they would burst out with some parasites, just like the "human-faced dog attacking from behind" in Contra 3. However, this makes me worry more...
I saw something similar to the chainsaw car and other infected in Mega Man X. It felt familiar, but not imitative.
But my favorite is the "core front" "Poison Blade" tank. It would be nice if it could protect its weak points.
On the train, I basically understood the technology lineup of this strange future world. A world using "green trains" and "buses" has flying vehicles like "Blade Runner". The city behind is invaded by alien meteorites. It was like the end of the world... The spore bullets scattered in the wind also claimed one of my lives, and I had to review the weapons inventory.
However, the BOSS battle left me a little disappointed. The green-skinned train monster was just a simple collision target. I thought I could crawl behind it and perform "spinal surgery" on it. It would be nice if there was a second stage of the battle.
I've played another beta version before, and the higher levels were a bit difficult... which made me give up on the second level.
It took me back to the 80s: "Hey, I saw the final BOSS, a beating heart with four lairs releasing aliens!"
My son can say "I saw a green train with a big mouth and it jumped at me like a snake!"
Thanks for the extended feedback! Indeed, the game takes a lot of ideas from older games. Although it's not uncommon for mechanics to look like they're from a game I've never played, or perhaps never heard of. For example, I've never played Mega Man. Regarding the story - I think I'll clarify any unclear points in some form after release (unless they're spoilers, of course). The boss tank was under repair, so the vulnerable part is exposed. I wanted to use the healthy versions of the tank in the background for comparison, but unfortunately they looked very bad there. About the difficulty, that's a very, very difficult question. Players are different, I tried to please the widest audience as much as I could. But I think that after the release will be added difficulty "nightmare". Thanks again for your opinion! :)
I'll be waiting for the official release of these.:)
Expect have these::
For example, unlock the only BOSS fight.
unlock BOSS and enemy illustrations Pixel map, Check out the enemy's backstory
There will also be additional hidden BOSS and even difficult levels. Maybe the configuration of some enemies will also change. Players may even encounter mini-BOSS that do not appear in other difficulties, such as the Perfect Tank. (
Difference in difficulty: In normal difficulty, the soldier corpses will not react, but in hard difficulty, parasites will suddenly erupt and attack from behind. )
I think boss battle only will be available after release, will be added along with the update. Basically, everything you listed can be added after release. But even now, depending on the difficulty, some enemies disappear/appear, their projectiles behave differently, etc. Including parasites appear after the death of zombies, that is, it is already in the game, just not represented in the demo
Hello, hello, maker, are you there? I spent two days creating this, kind of improvising.
Name: Broodmother Monster Truck
is a truck parasite that can breed prototype parasites. Due to the "monster truck's" maneuverability and off-road capabilities, these monsters spread parasites around, but when a vehicle rolls over, its tentacles can extend from between the wheels to pull itself up.Inside the cab is an egg sac, which throws other parasites from under the chassis (possibly the same ones in the corpse). However, this is only the lowest level nest mother and cannot give birth to stronger parasites.
Hi. I apologize, it's been a lot of posts, missed your post. Great concept! Very brutal! Mind if I tweet this out as fanart? And if so, how do I credit you?
I love that once you reach the city level, if you look in the backround for long enough, Carrionvoy will speed by, proving that the dang train didn't die, but lost some of its cars
Found some spots in the first level that don't allow player to jump down. Also, at least one spot where they can jump down to their death. ( seems like that is disabled in most spots)
I'm sorry, I didn't see the message. If there are a lot of bugs, it is better to write to the mail, so as not to clutter up the comments. Many thanks for the bugs found! ironmeatgame@gmail.com
I just randomly came across a youtube video showing this a couple hours ago. Less than 30 seconds into that Youtube video, I searched for the game and downloaded it here. I REALLY hope you give us more of this. I'm ready to spend money for a full game! I'd love to buy it on any console, old or new. Switch would be awesome, but I'm not picky. If a computer is the only option I ever get, ok:-( but I still loved the two levels that I was able to play. I hope there's much much more to come!
Do you need anyone to help with more music?
Would you like help from a developer or distributor like LRG, Modern Vintage Game, or anyone? I just want to be able to play more of this somehow :-)
The game will be ported to consoles, including the switch. Help with music is not needed, it is written by a wonderful musician Darkman007. I also have a publisher, so there are no problems here either. The game is in the final stage of development.
I am very glad that you like the game, thank you so much for your attention! :)
For the record, I LOVE the music. Darkman007 is great! I only asked just in case you needed help making more music for more levels (as I know a talented friend who makes similar music.) Glad you have it all under control. I can't wait to buy it and play the full game!
Hi! Amazing game! The pixel art is very top. Can't compare to most of modern pixelart games.
I was trying it in an old 15Hz CRT, and the game itself seems to display fine at 320x200? but the text in the menus can't be read at this resolution and the ingame HUD is not resized, so it looks too big.
We played your game, amazing graphics and music. We really love it. My friend and I really would like to translate your game into Turkish. If you are interested, contact us via this email address: meliksahcivitt@gmail.com
This is completely nickpicking an amazing project, but if there's any time left over can you add in "scanlines" as an optional graphics 'enhancement' to give it a near authentic arcade feel?
Hii, I've made a video about the game and wanted to share some feedback about it, hopefully it is useful to you ^^
-The idea of the game it's pretty good and has some really good "Contra" vibes.
-The gameplay mechanics are really fun and they high amount of lives the game gives you makes it easier to get into for new players.
-The game visually looks really great and has a lot of personality.
-The powerup system and the different weapons implementation is really good.
In conclusion, the idea is great and I hope you keep working on it. Hopefully this is useful for the development :D, also if you could subscribe that would help me a lot :)
Hi! I suppose you need to unpack .zip archive. You need archivator ZIP if you don't have one. After that you will get Iron Meat folder, and then run Iron Meat.exe inside, no installation needed
This user might be using the Itch app. I had the same problem. You click download and it presents a dialog with an empty "install" drop-down. I had to download from the web page instead.
(I am on Linux running the game under Wine, so perhaps that's why the Itch app doesn't present any options for installation because the game is technically Windows only?)
Yes, game is for Windows, I didn't test it on other OS. I suppose that's the reason. Then I don't know how to solve this :( I'm going to make the game compatible with various operating systems, but after I finish game

Regarding the issue of L3 weapons: I think it can be used as a difficulty limit, and players can increase the room for choice in the game, such as weapon upgrade restrictions, corpse bullets, etc., which can allow players to gain more experience and points, but increase the difficulty accordingly. The game is out now, right? Can we buy it from here or should we get it from GOG if we want a DRM free copy with a proper offline install package?
Hi I apologize for the VERY late reply, yes the game is out now, from ITCH you can download the full game at this link:

nice. TY

I've seen some youtuber's play the full version of the game on Youtube, do you only give the full release to people who are youtubers and want to make a video on it?
(Even saw a dude play the full game on a PS5)
Well, to answer in simple terms, yes. This is handled by the publisher, so I don't have exact answers (I'm a developer)

Unity :)

( just a theory tho )
Perhaps in this case I won't clarify whether it's true or not ;)
Really impressive new demo. Congrats!
Это бесподобно! Спасибо! Змеепоезд выше всех похвал.
Рад стараться! :)
Carrionvoy has to be the most badass boss i've ever seen in A Shooting game, i hope we'll get to see more of him someday
Well, this is the boss we are defeating... But we can always infect another train <3
Ooooo interesting, let me guess The Next one will be based on a Cargo train?
I don't know yet, I think it will be in the sequel. One game can't handle two train bosses :D
Honestly Carrionvoy Was My Favorite Boss, If theres ever gonna be any merch featuring that boi i'd take the whole damn stock
Better than most contra-likes imo
Thank you! =)
Made a video for the new demo
Awesome!
Awesome game. If this gets released on ps4/ps5, I would buy it.
Can't wait until October to play as Barney the Dinosaur XD
Awesome game, lad. Keep it coming!
Thank you! :D
Hola amigo, gracias por dejarme probar tu juego, yo me he divertido mucho, yo quiero que te suscribas a mi canal, un saludo desde España
¡Gracias, lo veré!
Weird, if you are a major in Russian Army - YOU are the meat. I think this game needs to adjust itself accordingly.
In Soviet Russia meat eat YOU!
Found some spots in the first level that don't allow player to jump down. Also, at least one spot where they can jump down to their death. ( seems like that is disabled in most spots)
You should let me be a tester before release:-)
I'm sorry, I didn't see the message. If there are a lot of bugs, it is better to write to the mail, so as not to clutter up the comments. Many thanks for the bugs found! ironmeatgame@gmail.com
Right now there is no search for testers, but I think it will be conducted closer to the release. Of course I will keep you in mind!
OMG, PLEASE GIVE ME MORE!
Hi!
Any thought about this?
Also, 4:3 aspect ratio would be perfect for CRTs.
Thanks!
Hi! Glad you like it! :D
Yes, there is some problems with resolution, I'll definitely fix it! It's old problem =\
Thanks for feedback!
Really awesome game with amazing pixel art! It is featured in my Top 5 of this Week!
Check my video!
Nice video!
Thanks!
We played your game, amazing graphics and music. We really love it. My friend and I really would like to translate your game into Turkish. If you are interested, contact us via this email address: meliksahcivitt@gmail.com
Sure it is :D
will it ever come to Consoles like PlayStation? This game looks AMAZING👌🏽
This is completely nickpicking an amazing project, but if there's any time left over can you add in "scanlines" as an optional graphics 'enhancement' to give it a near authentic arcade feel?
Of course! What exactly is better to add there? Thank you for your feedback :D
wow!!waiting immensely!!!!!success
Thank you! :D
Hii, I've made a video about the game and wanted to share some feedback about it, hopefully it is useful to you ^^
-The idea of the game it's pretty good and has some really good "Contra" vibes.-The gameplay mechanics are really fun and they high amount of lives the game gives you makes it easier to get into for new players.
-The game visually looks really great and has a lot of personality.
-The powerup system and the different weapons implementation is really good.
In conclusion, the idea is great and I hope you keep working on it. Hopefully this is useful for the development :D, also if you could subscribe that would help me a lot :)
Regards
Thank you for looking at the game!
You are welcome :D
Спасибо, рад что понравилось! Неплохой канал, кстати, пожалуй подпишусь
Nice video! You are a skilled player
This is great, I highly enjoyed the demo. Fantastic soundtrack as well. I hope the full game will be completed soon as I can't wait to play it!
Thank you! There wouldn't be release this summer, but maybe (maybe!) this year. At least I hope so :D
i cant select anything for install :c, what i can do?
Hi! I suppose you need to unpack .zip archive. You need archivator ZIP if you don't have one. After that you will get Iron Meat folder, and then run Iron Meat.exe inside, no installation needed
Or you can't download game?
(Sorry for my English)
This user might be using the Itch app. I had the same problem. You click download and it presents a dialog with an empty "install" drop-down. I had to download from the web page instead.
(I am on Linux running the game under Wine, so perhaps that's why the Itch app doesn't present any options for installation because the game is technically Windows only?)
Yes, game is for Windows, I didn't test it on other OS. I suppose that's the reason. Then I don't know how to solve this :( I'm going to make the game compatible with various operating systems, but after I finish game
